It’s been an incredibly busy week here at EES!  Thank you to all who visited our school this week for American Education Week and Special Person’s Day.   The turnout from the Elkridge community was amazing.  We truly appreciate all the support for our students.

I would like to congratulate our 5th graders on their performance of “Jungle Book Kids” on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.  It was an excellent show and we are so proud of the performers.  A production like this takes a tremendous team effort to coordinate.  I would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to Ms. Loughry, Mr. Washington, Mrs. Jenny Whitebloom, and Mrs. Sloat for their instruction and guidance throughout the entire process.  A special thanks to the EES staff and EES PTA for all your support.

Fall conferences window for this school year is November 20th-22nd.  Schools close at 12:55 on Monday and Tuesday, the 20th and 21st and there is no school for students on Wednesday the 22nd.   If you need to change or confirm your conference time, please contact the teacher directly or the front office at (410) 313-5006.

Michael Caldwell, Principal

The Howard County Board of Education is seeking public input as it moves forward with the process of selecting a permanent superintendent, who will be appointed to a four-year term to commence on July 1, 2018.  Community members are invited to submit desired leadership characteristics and priorities by completing a survey. The survey responses will be shared with the Board of Education and will inform the superintendent search process.

  • The online survey is available on the website.  Electronic responses from the online survey will be collected through 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 22.

The Board of Education will host two forums for the public to attend and provide direct input on the superintendent search process. These forums will be held on:

  • November 30, 2017 from 4-5 p.m. at Centennial High School, 4300 Centennial Lane, Ellicott City, MD 21042

  • December 5, 2017 from 7-8 p.m. at Wilde Lake Middle School, 10481 Cross Fox Lane, Columbia, MD 21044

In May 2017, the Board appointed current Interim Superintendent Dr. Michael J. Martirano to a one-year term, which extends through June 30, 2018. The Board voted on August 17 to move forward with the process to select a permanent superintendent, and a public hearing was held September 28.

Please contact Leslie Gilbert at (410)313-6745 or with any questions you may have regarding this request.  Thank you for your support.

Grandparents, older students (middle and high) are welcome to be volunteers as well to help the kids shop!   Here is the sign up genius link:

As a reminder, families can come to our school to shop for the holidays. The kids will have their own "shop" that they can buy items for their families and friends. There will also be places for the adults to shop as well! A full Scholastic Book Fair will be there as well as lots of local vendors selling crafts, jewelry, homemade items and many more! It is a super fun event that all enjoy!
