FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL

 

Please review the following information with your child/children. Cell phones, iPods, earphones and other electronic devices should be turned off before entering the school building. The following information can be found in the Student/Parent Handbook. 

 

Personal Communication Device Guidelines-

 

1. Students must comply with class and school rules and all relevant HCPSS Board Policies.

2. Administration, faculty and staff may request at any time that students turn off and put away technology devices.    Failure to do so may result in disciplinary action and possible revocation of privileges.

3. Individuals assume full responsibility for their non-HCPSS owned technology devices. This includes the device’s safety, security and maintenance.

4. Schools may designate approved personal communication device zones/times on school grounds. However, personal communication devices may not be used in locker rooms or bathrooms at any time.

5. Students must obtain consent from staff and participants before taking, uploading or sharing photos, recording audio, or capturing video during the school day.

6. Any disruption to class or other educational activity may result in disciplinary action.

7. Privileges for personal communication devices vary according to grade level: Elementary school students are permitted to have personal communication devices in their backpacks during the school day. They must be turned off during school hours. They may use their personal communication devices before or after school hours. FEBRUARY MATH CONFERENCES

 

February conferences will take place on February 14th and 15th.  Schools will close 3-hours early (12:55) on both days.  GT teachers will meet with 4th grade. (5th grade and Ms. Rager’s math class conferences took place in the fall).

Parents are now able to schedule MATH conferences through Friday, February 8th.  Please visit HCPSS Connect to schedule a conference.  All conferences will last 15 minutes. When you register, you will see they are set up for 20 minute blocks to allow for transition time between conferences and to help keep on the start times on schedule. It is important arrive on time to your conference as teachers will not be able to go beyond the scheduled time.

Conference Scheduling Timeline:

February 8 at 4:00 PM       Math Conference Scheduling Closes (HCPSS Connect)

February 11 & 12     Math conferences can only be done by contacting the front office directly at 410-313-5006

After February 12    All conference scheduling has to be done by contacting the teacher directly through e-mail

 

THE DENTIST IS COMING TO ELKRIDGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL!

The mobile dentist originally scheduled this week has been rescheduled to come to Elkridge Elementary School on Friday, February 8, 2019.   A state licensed dentist will check your child's mouth and teeth and may provide a cleaning, x-rays, fluoride treatment, sealants and additional care such as fillings, placement of crowns over the teeth, pulpotomies, and extractions if needed/necessary.  A dental report card will be sent home with your child.  The provider will bill and collect payment from any Medicaid, insurance or other payer and you will be billed for and agree to pay any deductibles and/or copays.  If you would like your child to be seen by the dentist, please complete the Smile Maryland form (sent home with the students) and send back to school or you may sign up online at www.MySchoolDentist.com.  

 

Valentine’s Day Celebrations

Valentine’s Day celebrations will take place on Thursday, February 14th.  Further information on celebrations will be provided by each team.  If you have questions regarding party details, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

 

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY AT EES

We are seeking support positions to assist and support our students during the school day. The first opportunity is for those interested in a temporary employee position with our special education team. This position has a rate of $10.50 per hour for 6 hours a day.

EES PTA NEWS

PTA Meeting

Please join us at the next PTA Meeting on Thursday, February 7th at 7pm in the Media Center.  Need to bring your child to be able to attend?  Girl Scouts from our area will be providing activities and supervision during the meeting.

Yearbook

The Yearbook Committee is looking for photos of school events for the yearbook and also for people who would like to help with designing pages.  Send photos to elkridgeyearbook@gmail.com.  The PTA provides a free year book for all 5th graders.  Yearbook order forms will be going home to all other grades in March.

Box Tops

We got $683.80 from Box Tops so far this year!  Please keep sending in box tops, and indicate which class they are from. 

Lunch/Recess Volunteers Needed
