MESSAGE FROM ADMINISTRATION

On behalf of the entire EES staff, we would like to thank the PTA, Crosslife Church, and the Elkridge community for an incredible Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!  The week started with an amazing Mexican lunch on Monday.  On Tuesday morning, Crosslife Church provided a delicious breakfast.  Wednesday and Thursday lunches were provided  and consisted of pizza and Caribbean and Pacific Island inspired rice bowls! Yummy desserts were provided on Friday to finish off the week.  This community certainly has gone above and beyond showing their support for the staff!  We truly appreciate all that you have done for us this week and throughout the year.

Enjoy the weekend and Happy Mother’s Day.

FIELD DAY
Our annual Field Day will take place on Thursday, May 30th this year! Grades K-5 will be participating in various activities during two sessions, 9:30 – 11:00 am and 1:30 – 3:00 pm.  Volunteers are needed!  Field Day would not be a success without the help of our amazing EES families.  If you are interested volunteering, please check the volunteer sign-up link.  Thank you for your help.

5th Grade Closing Ceremony Date Scheduled
This year, our 5th Grade Closing Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, June 18th.  Specific time and other important details will be provided at a later date.  Please look for this information in the near future.

NIGHT OF EXCELLENCE
Please join us on Thursday, May 16th for our annual Night of Excellence (formally Enrichment Fair).  This year we will be celebrating all students’ achievements.  Each student will be recognized and have something displayed during this exciting evening.  To help alleviate parking issues we have split the event into two shifts.  These times are 6:00 – 6:45 PM for last names beginning with A-M and 7:15 – 8:00 PM for last names beginning with N-Z.  Hope to see you there!

Are You Moving and Not Returning to EES for the 2019-20 School Year?
If you know that you will be relocating over the summer, please notify EES Front Office as soon as possible at 410-313-5006 or email Jenny Whitebloom (Jennifer_Eley-Whitebloom@hcpss.org) or Laura Nichols (Laura_Nichols@hcpss.org).  You will need to sign a release of records form to ensure that your child’s new school receives the records before the beginning of the 2019-20 school year. During the school year, transfer packets take a minimum of 24 hours to prepare. As we do not have a full registration staff during the summer, transfer packets and records may take longer to get to you and new school(s).

NOTE FROM THE HEALTH ROOM
Allergy season is here!
Please consider giving medication to your child before school if they need it.  Also, try to encourage them to wash their hands with soap and water and rinse their face/neck after outside activities in order to wash the pollen/allergens off.

Recess and PE will be outside from now to the end of the school year if the weather allows.

Please be aware that students are not permitted to stay inside for recess/PE due to seasonal allergies unless they have a note from their physician.
Parents/guardians should apply sunscreen to their student before coming to school.  If your student needs sunscreen during the school day, parent permission in writing is required.  Products must be provided by the parent/guardian and can be carried by the student.  Aerosols are not permitted in school.

Thank you!

Jennifer Tucker, RN, BSN and Marianne Jones, Health Assistant

PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM   2019-20
Enrollment for our half day Pre-K programs at EES for the 2019-20 school year has begun!  The Pre-K program is a high-quality, early childhood instructional program designed to support early learning and school readiness. It aims to provide experiences that foster children’s academic, social, emotional and physical development. The Maryland State Department of Education requires that the Pre-K program be made available to students who meet priority criteria. Parents of children who will be 4 by September 1, 2019 may contact the front office or stop by to pick up an application. All application information will be kept confidential and reviewed only by school staff. The school will review applications and supporting documentation and then invite students to be enrolled according to the criteria described above.  Call the EES Front Office at 410-313-5006 with any questions.
