The Maryland Association of School Librarians (MASL) is excited to announce a contest that is sure to get both students and school librarians very excited as we head into School Library Month in April 2022. Please see all links below that pertain to this contest.

Our new contest is a chance for Maryland students to tell us why they LOVE their school library and what might just make it the best library in Maryland.

The contest will be open during the month of February and there will be three winners (elementary, middle and high).

PRIZES

Students:
Each winner will receive a $100 gift card to Amazon.

School librarian:
The head school librarian of the winning school will receive a $50 gift card to Amazon and will also receive MASL membership for one year.

Here are the rules:

• Students have a chance to share what they love about their school library.
• Share images, artifacts, videos, and other examples that show your love for your school library program. (digital poster, mp4, PPT, FlipGrid, etc.)

Entries are due by 11:59 PM on February 28, 2022.

Entries should include the following criteria:

• Elementary - The name of the school library, the name of the school librarian and at least one reason why you love your school library. The student’s name should not be in the video.
• Secondary - The name of the school library, the name of the school librarian and at least two reasons why you love your school library. The student’s name should not be in the video.

Three winners will be selected. One from an elementary school, one from a middle school and one from a high school.
 
Members of the MASL School Library Contest Committee will narrow the submitted entries to the top 20 in each category. During the month of March, students across the state will have a chance to look at these top 20 entries and vote for which library they think is deserving of the top prize in each category.
