The Elkster Examiner - March 29, 2016

Tue, 03/29/2016 - 4:06pm

Dear Elkridge Elementary Families,
Spring has sprung and we are enjoying the longer days and warmer weather. Our staff and students have worked so hard through the winter months and many are looking forward to the time off.  We want to wish everyone a very happy spring break.  We hope everyone takes this time to relax, have fun, hopefully enjoy the sun, and get refreshed and ready to finish the year strong!!!  We will see you back here on Monday, April 4, 2016.

Mrs. Anoff, Mrs. Carter, and Ms. Richardson

Inclement Weather Days
Many of you are wondering about the impacts of inclement weather on the school calendar. At this time, the final day of the 2015-2016 school year is not finalized yet. All six of the inclement weather days built into the HCPSS school calendar have been used, plus an additional two. Maryland state law requires schools to be in session for a minimum of 180 days each year. Waivers to this requirement must be approved by the Maryland State Board and are not automatically granted even when a State of Emergency is in effect. As winter progresses, the Board of Education will explore options for making up the additional inclement weather days. We will communicate with you when any calendar decisions have been made.
