Today, we conducted a Fire Drill and Reverse Evacuation Drill with the students and staff. Throughout the year, we conduct regular drills such as these, so that if an actual emergency were to occur, we are better prepared to face the emergency calmly and safely. A reverse Evacuation Drill trains our students and staff in rapid re-entry procedures so that if there is an emergency while children and staff are outdoors, they know how to get back into the building as quickly and as safely as possible.
We encourage you to ask your child about the drills and let us know if they have any questions or concerns. You can find detailed information about what occurs during protective actions taken during emergencies, and the types of situations when each is implemented, at www.hcpss.org/safety/. Additional information can be found on the Family Resources Site.
